Guest Designer-Donna Mikasa

Happy Sunday, my friends! I've go a TREAT for you.
If you have visited my friend Donna Mikasa's blog, you would know that Donna is the master in her inking and peerless mix with colors. She is also quite an expert when it comes to cute and whimsical designs....the list go on.  I am thrilled that Donna is guest designing for our "All about Colors" challenge! Yay! Donna used the same background stamp (MFT Bundles of Blossoms) and applied two different inking techniques to color it. Be prepared to be amazed....

First, Donna used Zig Kuretake brush markers on Thanks
Donna's Tip: Whether you start with the cool colors or warm colors, brush on colors in "rainbow order". That way, you can be sure that the transition from one colors to the next will not have any "muddy" colors on your card.

Donna continues to delight us with her favorite ink distressing on Hello Beautiful.
Donna's Tip: After heat embossing the background, start blending with the “cool” colors and try to keep colors that may muddle, separate. Start lightly at first and let colors fade towards the center and top of the card. You can always add more color as desired.

Wow, how colorful are these two stunning projects? Will you please join me to thank Donna over Three Umbrellas for her time and talent!?

AND remember, the current challenge is not only about multi-color, rainbow colors, ink-blending....etc. I am also sharing a card in my blog (see here) on color-layering.
thanks #3

Make It Colorful

Hello friends!
First of all, thank you for your wonderful and positive response on our summer challenge. The entries keep pouring in daily and I am overwhelmed by your enthusiasm!

A quick post today....I mainly want to highlight the beauty of pattern paper. This challenge is "All about Colors".  But that doesn't mean you have to stop using your stash of design paper. My example today shows just that.
hav a beautiful day

Sometimes the easiest design may not be obvious, but it is right in front of you. In this case, I made the simple die cut on white card stock, I took another look and thought:" why not cutting it in half and see what happens....".

I also took the advantage of the bright Bo Bunny Believe pattern paper. The only "fancy" stamping was the multi-colored sentiment. I did it with MISTI, of course.

I hope this card inspires you to check out your design paper and use them as colorfully as you possibly can. You will be amazed what you come up with!

I would appreciate it that you use the product links and side banner in this blog to make your online purchase. This will greatly help out in funding the challenge prize as we currently do not have any official sponsors.
Simon Says Stamp has a GREAT sale on discontinued items (see here
The July monthly kit s super popular and do sell out quickly.
The new release "Among The Stars" is worth checking out, too.

Due to the high number of entries, I may not comment on every single one. But please know that your entry will be viewed and evaluated. Please keep them coming. Thanks for stopping by!

Virginia's View Challenge #22 (Summer Challenge)

Hello friends!
I told you that I would be baaaaack!
How is your summer going so far? Hope you are enjoying summer fun whether you are outdoor or staying inside to escape the heat and craft away...
Are you ready for a brand new challenge?
As you can see, the theme is "All about Colors". We have done "All About Coloring" in the past. So you might ask what's the difference between the two?

The following criteria that fit this challenge:
~color-layering : get your multi-step color layering stamps out to play!
~rainbow : it's obvious, isn't it?
~ink-blending: use 3-4 colors at least to make your project colorful
~coloring: whether it's watercoloring, copic-coloring or coloring take the pick!
~anything that involves multiple colors/coloring (soft, pastel, bold, is the limit)
Please note that the entry will be deleted if it does not fit the theme of the challenge.

To kick the challenge off, I am sharing a brand new color-layering project with you.
sending love to my beautiful niece
Color-layering is all the rage now. If you have never tried color-layering, you totally should give it a try. There are many ways of approaching it. You can line the stamps up perfectly or you can slightly offset them. It's entirely up to you.
for my friend on your birthday

The following one is my rainbow addition that I shared in my blog post earlier today (details here).
you brighten my day (PB)

I hope that you will be inspired to create something colorful!

As you can see, the theme is very open and broad. I want to encourage you to be creative and dig deep. There is no limit as to how many cards you can enter. The Top 10 Favorites will be chosen based on the overall design, techniques and execution.

You will get this hard-earned blog badge (wink!).

The winner (randomly chosen from Top 10) will receive a $15 Simon Says Stamp gift card.

To keep things simple and easy, the challenge will run till the end of July. This will allow you to have ample time to create and especially with summer, we like to take things S-L-O-W.

Please continue to support this challenge by using the links to shop over Simon Says Stamp and Craftsy. This will not cost you anything, but the small commission from your purchase will go toward our prize. Thank you!
In case you are shopping, the code for Simon Says Stamp is "Breezy".
It will take $5 off for purchase over $5 or more (valid till June 15)!  Btw, you might want to check out what's on sale over Simon Says Stamp here
Lastly, if you are into taking card-making classes, Craftsy has some class sales going on.
Are you ready? Get set....go!
