A Wrap-Up

Hello hello!
I know Geometric Patterns Challenge is not the easiest for some to tackle, but you ACED the challenge! We ended up with 167 entries! Woohoo! In order to give you an overview about this theme, I am doing a wrap-up as usual. Many of you mentioned how much you enjoy seeing a post like this, well, here it is! Here are a few categories from my observations.

1. Triangle and white space: this seems to be quite the popular formula. The placement and colors of triangles prove that it's "the little shape that could"!

2. Circles, of course! : Now matter what shapes you choose, circles just make everything better!

3. Think 3-D: geometric background provides the perfect backdrop for the 3-D effect.

4. Geometric shapes with a message: Not only these designs are geometric, they also convey a message! Whether it's a butterfly, sentiment, a number...the message is loud and clear.

5. Animals with shapes:  We all love animals...but when you add  geometric patterns to the mix, the animals sure come to life!

6. Hexagons: this proves to be the most sophisticated shape. Period.

7. Total geometric: Whether you use dies or stencils for your designs, the magic geometric patterns are in full display! Aren't they gorgeous!?
My sincere thank-you for entering this challenge. The panel judges are going to have a VERY tough time picking winners and HMs. Our Spotlight Feature will be coming up on the 25th. We have two winners to announce: one will get the $25 gift voucher from SSS and the other is a random draw (from all participants for this challenge) for guest designer Deepti's stamp set giveaway.

Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Designer-Deepti Malik

Hello there!  Are you enjoying this month's challenge? I have another amazing guest designer to inspire you today! Not only she is uber talented, she is also very generous to do a giveaway (squeal!!) with our followers/players (details at the end of this post)!
...a little birdie told me that you love STAMPS (wink).

I got to know Deepti Malik through her colorful creations in a few online challenges, later I had the pleasure of working along with her as part of the CAS-ual Fridays DT. Deepti is an artist! She has awesome stamping techniques and mad skills. Deepti illustrates and has been designing stamps for STAMPplorations

(Dee's Artsy Impressions)
In case you didn't know, Deepti teaches Watercolor Cards Made Simple
over Craftsy. If you love the look of watercolors, you will totally enjoy this class.

Without further ado, here is Deepti's first card.

Deepti: For my Thanks card, I decided to create a geometric background on the card base using a combinations of Dies (CAS-ual Friday's Funky Square Tag and Shuffle Fri-dies and Sizzix circle dies).

Deepti: I inked each of these dies cuts and layered them on the card base. For the sentiment, I used the Thanks die cut from PTI. Here in the card the geometry lies in the repetition of pattern and color.
For my Enjoy card, I wanted to focus on the concept that geometry is all about random shapes and for that I decided to create a patterned paper panel (using Teresa Collins Souvenir paper pad) by cutting patterned paper in various shapes and adhering them together.

Deepti:To embellish it I heat embossed the lotus on vellum and fussy cut it.

Deepti: For the sentiment I used sentiment diecut from PTI and a wood veneer butterfly (Studio Calico). The stamp set used in my second card is "Lotus love" that I designed for my Stamp line "Dee's Artsy Impressions" which is being manufactured under the umbrella of STAMPlorations.

Deepti: I am super excited to be joining the Virginia's View challenge. This is one on my favorite challenge and for that reason I thought wouldn't it be fun to add a giveaway :) I am giving away my Lotus love set to one random winner from all the entries (the more entries you have, the more chances you get). Thank you so much,Virginia, for having me over :)

How about that!? I am so loving her graphic interpretations and artsy designs.
Please stop by Deepti's blog and leave her some love! There are still a lot of time to enter the challenge! Hope to see you create!

Hello friends!
Today is part two of Julia's projects. Her blog "Just One More Card" is choke-full of inspiration and creativity. You can see Julia's previous post here.
Julia is so generous with her tips and tricks, you always feel that she is stamping right along with you in your own craft room... at least, I feel that way :)
Lucky for us, Julia create two cards with a video!
Her first card is a fabulous one layer.
and here is Julia's 2nd card
You can see the video here.
My sincere thanks to Julia for this amazing guest design. She really goes above and beyond and delights us with her 2 awesome videos. I strongly encourage that you become Julia's You Tube Channel Subscriber. She really does not disappoint!

Guest Designer-Julia Altermann (Part 1)

Hello friends!
I am so pleased to have our next guest designer Julia Altermann from Just One More Card. Julia's card-making caught my eyes as soon as she entered Virginia's View Challenge. Her cards are always so well thought out and detailed. Julia is excellent in coloring and...well, everything with stamping. Did you know that Julia also has a popular You Tube Channel? Her instructions are so clear and precise. I also love how she approaches each card with such fun and enthusiasm.

Here is her first card with a video. Normally, I would ask the guest designer share their thoughts, creative process/tips.
With Julia's video, I think we'll just have to watch her on You Tube and see what she has for us.
Here is the link.
You likey? If you do, das is wunderbar!
Isn't Julia fun and creative? She totally is :)

I encourage you to leave Julia some love in her blog "Just One More Card".
Julia has another video for us in two days! Can you wait!? I am looking forward to sharing her beautiful projects with you. I hope that you are inspired. Geometric Patterns are not as hard as it looks, right?
Speaking of Patterns, you can also explore the possibilities with pattern paper...

Patterned Paper Play by Paige Evans over Craftsy covers a huge amount of pattern inspiration.
 See you in 2 days!
